Ian Reed Twiss
Ian (or Pastor Ian, he answers to both) has been the Rector at Trinity since Nov 30, 2014. Before that he served for almost eight years as the Pastor/Priest at a combined Episcopal and Lutheran congregation in Saline, MI.
Ian joined Trinity because he was inspired by our church's many gifts: its racial diversity, its commitment to youth and children, its ministry to the world around it, and its creativity in worship. Nurturing a Christian community that welcomes all and that seeks to build God's kingdom of equity and justice lies at the heart of his mission as a priest. Because he did not grow up in church but found his way there in his late twenties, Ian is passionate about finding new ways to bring a sense of God's loving presence into our current, and increasingly secular, world.
Before getting his Master of Divinity and becoming ordained in 2007, Ian worked as a writer and writing teacher at the University of Michigan, where he received a Master's degree in fiction writing. He grew up in northern California, where he lived prior to his move to Michigan in 1997.
Ian is blessed to have been married for over twenty years to his wife, Nan, and to have three teenagers: son, Adrian, now in college, and daughters Miranda and Devon. In his free time he loves to run, bike, read, play jazz piano, eat good food, and hang out with his family.
Director of Music
Jenifer has been the Music Director at Trinity for the past 28 years. She has also taught Vocal Music in the Van Buren Public Schools--at McBride and Owen Middle Schools--for the past 26 years and is certified to teach English and Social Studies. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Eastern Michigan University in Vocal Music Education, a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from EMU and a Masters Degree in Education from Marygrove College in Detroit. Jenifer loves her family, sports, and to sing, read, and attend concerts of any musical genre. She has been married to Doug for 26 years and together they have four children who are in their early teens to mid twenties: Mollee, Haylee, Hunter, and Kenedee. When her kids are grown and out of college, Jenifer plans to volunteer more and travel. and attend concerts of any musical genre. She loves her music ministry and family at Trinity. She feels it has been a calling for her to use her time and talents in the sharing of her faith and worshipping God through music. Her vision for our music ministry in the future is to strive to spiritually lift up all through this essential form of worship that is both diverse and inspirational.
Richard O. Boulter
As Trinity's deacon, Richard's primary duties are to take the Gospel out into the world through outreach and to minister to the sick, the homeless, and others who want to know Christ. He loves providing pastoral care and spends a lot of his ministry doing so--to parishioners or their families or others in the community. In addition, he officiates at Trinity's once-a-month worship service for the residents of the Cedar Woods nursing home and offers healing prayer during communion at Trinity, typically the second Sunday of each month. Other duties include teaching and scheduling Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, and the Sunday evening Adult Forum.
Richard is a cradle Episcopalian and spent his early years attending Trinity Cathedral in Trenton, NJ as a choir boy, Acolyte, and Lay Reader. In his working life, he has served as an army soldier, credit manager, controller, and general business manager. Richard has also worked for our diocese as Coordinator of Support Ministries, Diocesan Administrator, and Property and Risk Manager. He was ordained a deacon in 2009 and has served in that capacity at Trinity ever since.
Richard is married to his wife of over fifty years, Judy. They have three adult sons and four grandchildren, all of whom are the apples of his eye.
